Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is when she discovered an old grand piano hidden in the attic. She was fascinated by what it could do. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to play music only to have fun or as a means of growth but rather, she must explore it. In order to do so she started writing her own songs that were her own creations. Her influences include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love for Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother said they could help people not to gain fame with her work, but instead help those around them see the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. She started playing piano at age six and making music when she was 9 years old. Her family didn't have any idea about it until she turned 14. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. She says she just likes creating music. She claims that music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
